Blogging is one of the most popular things to do online, and your
myInMates blog is a great way to let your friends know about you and
your interests. Luckily, the Blog is an easy to use feature, and a
lot of fun!
To get started, click on the
button in myStash. This screen is split into two different
parts. Let's start with the top. Your blog menu allows you
to create an entry, view your comments and edit your settings.
To compose a new entry, click on Compose Blog Entry.
Every entry can have three parts, a title, which is the first part
people will see when viewing your profile or your blog, a photo, which
is usually used to emphasize the topic, and a body. The body is
the important part, of course. Once you have entered everything
you would like, click Post to allow others to read it.
Clicking on Blog Comments or
in myStash will allow you to see everything people have said
about your posts. Your entries are listed in reverse order (newest
first), along with how many comments have been made, and how many are
new since you last checked. Clicking on the blog title will take
you to that post and show all of the comments. (Note: Once this
loads, all of the "new" comments will be set to read, whether or not you
look at them)
Clicking on Edit Blog Settings will allow you to change the
title of your blog, your visibility and your comments. The title
of your blog is what will show up at the top of the blog, and and the
top of the blog gadget on your profile (for more information on gadgets,
please read the article entitled "Edit Profile"). Visibility
determines who can see your blog. It can be set to Everyone, in
which case any logged in member can read it, Friends Only, where only
people on your friends list can read it, and No one, where only you can
read it. Comments works very similarly, but changes who can write
a comment about your posts, with the same three choices.
The second part of the screen is composed of your entries. They
are all listed the way your visitors will see them, with some options
across the bottom. Clicking on Edit will take you to a
screen identical to the Compose page, but with information
already filled in. (Note: if you upload a photo from the Edit
page, it will REPLACE the existing photo.) Permanent Link
is the page that anyone can link to for you, so they can read the blog
posting. Comments will tell you how many there are and
allow you to read them. (Note: Once this loads, all of the "new"
comments will be set to read, whether or not you look at them). In
the top corner of each blog entry is a
.
Clicking on this will remove the post and all comments associated with
it.

Ready to try it? Then get to it!
